Maplin solar panels are a possibility for those wanting to experiment with the technology. The electronics retailer sells quite a wide variety from low power items to larger higher output setups.
The largest we saw was a 150W model available in normal and "B grade" for those wanting a cheaper option. The normal price was £979.99 and the money saving option was £629.99.
It was described as having a high-fficiency crystalline cell for all weather charging and being perfect for 240V appliances, and having bypass diodes to reduce the effect of shadows.
At the other end of the scale Maplin solar panels were available as cheaply as £61.99 for their 5W model, being described as suitable for off grid lighting. The model numer for this kit is L13BR.
Maplin solar panels are also accessible to a lot of consumers as they are available at nationwide stores.
